BME’s role in the Horizon SHORE project

BME helps to prepare school projects, successfully implement them, and provides continuous information to those interested in the topic.
Protecting the environment, keeping our waters and oceans clean, and educating young people about sustainable water use are extremely important for the future of our planet.

The SHORE project (https://shoreproject.eu/) provides support and tools to increase ocean literacy and restore the health of our natural waters. The consortium members cooperate with primary and secondary schools, teachers and students in five different regions (Baltic Sea, Black Sea, Mediterranean, Danube and Rhine River). The project supports a total of 100 European schools with up to EUR 10,000 for water protection projects under three calls for proposals.

In the first call, 12 Hungarian schools applied, of which 2  won funding after the evaluation of their excellent applications. BME, as the Hungarian Node of the SHORE project (https://shore.bme.hu/), provides assistance in the preparation of applications and the successful implementation of the winning projects.

Funding was awarded to the Lánchíd Utcai Sport Általános Iskola  in Kecskemét for its Thousand-Faced Danube project and to the Kossuth Lajos Gimnázium és Kollégium in Mosonmagyaróvár for its Safeguarding Aquatic Biodiversity Through International and Intergenerational Network project.
